Seven young couples joined us on October 2 and 3 to "suit-up" for the journey of a lifetime: marriage at our Seminario de Orientación al Matrimonio / S.O.M. (Marriage Orientation Seminar.) We repeated the online experience just like we did in March edition of the S.O.M.
Dani Sanmartin and his wife Raquel Pérez (pictured below) shared their testimony of having participated in the S.O.M. 15 years ago.
In addition, Dan and Raquel recruited two young couples to join us in hosting the S.O.M. and coached them in preparation for the event.
Javi and Barbara (pictured below) served as emcees on Day 1 of the S.O.M.
Javi's twin sister, Soraya, and her husband, Sergio, (pictured below) gave a talk on the first years of marriage and the adjustments that each spouse will need to make, reminding them that we each see the world through our own "lenses" and the importance of considering the point of view of the other.
We also were blessed by the participation of the Family Life Spain founders, Victor Miron and Cesca Planagumà as well as Jonatan Pozo, director of INFFA the Institute of Training for Families, and his wife, Goyi Mexino, AND well-known psychologist, Ester Martínez.
While talking after the S.O.M. with these seasoned experts, I found out that usually the S.O.M. is ONLY held in the spring, due to lack of interest in the fall and that, although the number of participating couples was smaller than the spring event, it was miraculous to have 7 couples participate in the fall!

We learned a lot and that it is essential for couples to see the importance of working toward a healthy marriage.
I really liked that it was very dynamic. Above all, the topics that were presented with powerpoints were very easy to follow in spite of the difficulty of meeting online.
Knowing that many others were learning like me and that they were in the same situation as me helped me to lose my timidity. I liked that a lot.
The small groups were a great idea. It was great to meet couples from other cities.
Please pray for these 7 couples who participated in the October S.O.M. Pray that they will get involved further in activities to help them deepen in their marriage relationship and in their spiritual relationship with Jesus.
