One More Step Forward

In July, God brought a new member to our Agape team for the 2017-2018 school year, intern Alejandro Bo, from Alicante. With Alejandro's arrival, God also gave a new challenge for me....

I had participated in new staff orientatons on various occasons previously, but this was my first time to organize and host an event like this. Since Alejandro lives closer to Barcelona than to Málaga,  where the directors of the LDHR team are, the decision was made to hold the Intern Orientaton in Barcelona. (Of course, since it was just one new member, the responsibility of this orientaton event was lighter than if there had been 20, although 20 new staff is what we are dreaming about and praying for in the upcoming years!)

Working side-by-side with me was my fellow LDHR member, Donna Cannella. Donna is gifted as a detail person and a public speaker. Her perspective, clarity and thoroughness brought great balance to this time of welcome, preparation and orientation for Alejandro.

At the lunch hour we were also joined by Samuel Palacios, representing the national leadership team. Samuel brought exciting vision and motivation as he talked about his own experience entering Agape and his desires for the future of this special evangelistic ministry that God raised up 48 years ago in Spain to take the Good News to Spain and around the world. 

Alejandro Bo, representing "Fe y Vida" in Valencia, presented this Catholic movement during a round table event organized the Department of Theology in Valencia. The talk was part of the course, "Thinking about Evangelization." Listen to Alejandro (in Spanish) here.

A unique candidate as an intern with Agape, an evangelical ministry, Alejandro comes from a Catholic background and his heavily involved in a charismatic Catholic community in Spain known as Fe y Vida (Faith and Life.) Although close collaboraton between Catholics and Evangelicals in Spain is not seen very often (due to the long and difficult religious and political history of this country), Agape has worked hard, since its inception to connect with and partner with the Catholic church.

Alejandro will be working as an intern in Valencia, the new locaton for Agape's national headquarters. He will serve to prepare and organize the natonal office, as well as assist those ministries who will be working fo that office, including, Global Aid Network and Agape Spain's Campus Ministry known as Cristianos Universitarios or C.U., which is pronounced like the letter Q in Spanish, "CU." He will work closely with Nacho Marques and his wife, Maria Juan, who serve as Agape's National Directors.

We are praying that this year will be a positive experience for Alejandro and for Agape as he learns more about full-time ministry and about the evangelical (protestant) community. In the months to come I will give updates on Alejandro's participaton and progress in our new intern program, which is just beginning its second year.

Please pray that God would use this year to help Alejandro grow personally and spiritually. Pray that God would use this experience to open new doors for additonal interns to join with us to reach the millons of Spaniards who do not yet know who Jesus truly is, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
