New Staff Training: An Introduction

After months of preparation, the weekend finally arrived! 6 of our newest staff rolled in for 3 days of focused talks and activities to introduce them to a 2-year long training program that is being launched in Spain for all new staff.

Since this is the first time that a New Staff Training Program of this sort will be implemented here in Spain, we as a design team decided that it would be worth investing in some face-to-face time, together with their trainers, to lay out the elements and details of the training program.

And it's a good thing we did. After the first session on Friday night there had been some blank stares and confused looks. We found out later that these new staff had mistakenly thought the the training consisted of this weekend gathering, when actually the weekend gathering was just an introduction to many months of articles, discussions, activities and projects to help ensure that all of our new staff receive a solid foundation of walking with the Lord for a lifetime and majoring on the basics of ministry: sharing our faith and making disciples.

It was an especially poignant time for me, with 3 of the 6 staff being young men assigned to the University of Granada where I prayed and labored from 2000-2004 that the Lord would raise up laborers to reach the students in that city!

Please pray for these new staff and their trainers to meet regularly, to allow the Lord to speak to them and mold their hearts and for them to use this season as new staff to take steps of faith, to learn about themselves and to enjoy pouring their lives into the people around them.
