Going On In Granada
My first assignment in Spain was at the University of Granada in the city of Granada. 4 years of prayer walks and planting gospel seeds and investing in the lives of students and participating with the churches there were not for naught.
While my contribution was just a drop in the bucket, it is truly the Lord who begins and carries on his work.
"After all, what is Apollos? What is Paul? They are servants who helped you to believe. Each one had a role given to them by the Lord: I planted, Apollos watered, but God made it grow. Because of this, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anythign, but the only one who is anything is God who makes it grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together, but each one will receive their own reward for their own labor. We are God´s co-workers, and you are God´s field, God´s building." --1 Corinthians 3:5-9
A very special family stepped in to lead the minsitry in Granada in 2005, carrying on what God started there, the work of changing lives. Garrick and Dziu Roegner hail from Dallas, Texas and bring maturity, leadership and great insight to the ministry. They have been working on winning, building and sending Spanish university students through a variety of programs including Existe Más Mundo, Alpha courses and Tertulias.
One of the highlights was watching a young student named Samuel Pérez be transformed from young student into a full-time staff member (and now, most recently, a proud pappa!). They have also seen God raise up a solid staff team for the university and add high school ministry to the scope.
In April 2012 the Granada team hosted a week-long evangelistic campus blitz, bringing in campus staff from all over the country. To read more about the encouraging week, click here.
Currently, they are focusing on student leader development through "Q" which is a missional community focused on the campus and built around the values of Mission, Growth and Community.
I give great thanks to God for Garrick and Dziu and all that He is doing to make Himself known in Granada. May He continue to cause their work to flourish and grow so that more and more students may come to know Him.
