Llamados 2011: Called 2011

After almost a year of planning, the event had finally arrived. Although I was named as the Conference Coordinator, in fact there was a key group of staff who worked to created this special environment where more than 150 staff and volunteers were able to focus on the Lord and hear from Him under one roof.

The conference theme, "Llamados 2011" ("Called 2011") was born from the desire to call others to join with us to help reach the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Held from October 28-Nov 1, 2011 in Platja d´Aro, Girona, the conference was a unique coming together of staff, young families, retired couples, university and high school students to worship and pray, play and celebrate, learn and yield to what God has in store for us as his "called ones."

Among the conferees were 10 visitors from various non-Spanish-speaking countries (including Estonia, Lithuania, Holland, England and the USA.) We were able to provide translation for them throughout the conference. (One of 10 translators, Ruben Fernández, pictured below with Michael from Holland.)

We were blessed each morning with unique messages from different speakers: Natan de Souza reminded us of the love relationship that God has called us to with Himself; Javier García motivated us to yield to God as He works in our hearts to help us grow and mature; and Edi Souto challenged us to get involved, to be moved to action by the issues that keep us awake at night.

In the afternoons, we heard from our very own Félix Ortíz who taught us the biblical history of God´s mission and urged us to live each day as agents of restoration.

The following are two videos that Félix shared to help move us from indifference to action.
(Get ready! They are powerful!)

Also unveiled during this special conference was Agape Spain´s new mission statement:
"Construir Puentes Para Cambiar Historias" (Building Bridges to Change Lives)
May the Lord use this conference to spur us on to build bridges to reach out to people and communities with Christ´s love.
