Mutual Encouragement

 4 I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, 5 because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus. 6 I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ. 7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people. Pictured above is Marian Bootello, whom I have mentioned several times in the last few years. Marian is a Spanish woman from Málaga who joined the staff of Agape 9 years ago to work with adolescents. We first met in the south when I worked in Granada and she was a student at the University of Málaga; and started collaborating together when she joined the Campus staff of Agape in Sevilla in 2002.

Because we share a common background of the Campus ministry and because we are both new to the staff team in Terrassa, we have found a natural connection. Recently she asked me if we could meet weekly for some one-on-one accountability and encouragement.

So, we´ve begun reading the book, Mujer a Mujer by Joyce Meyer and then meet weekly to discuss each week´s reading and its potential application. When we meet we´ve decided to meet on a different university campus to also do some prayer walking while we´re together.

Please pray for God to use this book in our personal lives to help us grow and mature in our relationships with Him. Pray that God would also use us to open a door for the gospel at the universities in Terrassa, Spain. Pray that He would raise up some key students who would be interested in our Global Aid Network projects.

We reflected on what it means to be a servant leader, the role of coaching others and how to put to evangelize with our actions. Meet the Monkey on Mondays!

Every week, heck, every day God is working in our lives....but how aware are we? How have you seen Him show up this week? One struggle in communicating regularly was related to the "slow" nature of ministry. Sometimes, it is hard to see what God is doing. One rationale that dominated  my thinking is that maybe it is that God is working much more slowly here, so rather share news each month, I may have to wait, 6, 9, 12 months to have a story to tell. However, as I make this shift to share a "blip" from each day, it has revolutionized the way I see God's work here, in my personal life and in ministry. A specific tool I am using to deliver my messages and stories to you across the ocean is MailChimp, an email marketing platform online; and, although I am sure that I am not getting nearly as much out of MailChimp as I could, but just the fact to be getting any news out at all is a big step for me. Immigrant moms advancing together

An American, a Brazilian, a Spaniard and 9 Moroccan women walk into a neighborhood center....it sounds like the beginning of a joke, right? God has a great sense of humor! Let me tell you how this story works out.... My church in Spain has an amazing outreach ministry in a city neighborhood highly populated by Moroccan immigrants. While immigration has increased globally, Catalunya has one of the highest percentages of immigration world-wide.  This drastic and relatively rapid change is historic and also traumatic for a Spanish system that is not prepared to receive so many immigrants. We personally have seen the burdening effects of immigration in our schools, at our hospitals and in our neighborhoods.  Many of those who come from Morocco are the poorest of the poor. They arrive looking for work and a better life. They come without having learned the language.
