The Harvest is Plentiful...but the workers need visas!

One of my favorite verses comes at the end of Matthew 9 when Jesus is on the road with His disciples...


"...When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were harrassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Then he said to his discilpes, ´The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.´"

The Lord is sending out yet another laborer into His harvest field. Her name is Veronica Carrera Jara.

Veronica, who is from Chile, graduated with a degree in teaching in 1999 and worked in the public schools for 5 years teaching English. However, God had other plans for her. She became a Campus Crusade staff member at the University of Concepción in 2003 and this year has plans to bring a group of university students for an international summer project to Spain to share the gospel with Muslims in the south of Spain and in North Africa. Once the project is over, she will continue here, serving with the team in Málaga for the year.

Thsi past Monday Veronica sent me a quick email....

"Hello Jill, I just wanted to let you know that today the visa papers arrived. Everything is in order. Now it´s time to take care of the paperwork here. Once again, thank you so much for all the help you´ve offered during this process. --a big hug and blessings, Veronica"

How exciting to know that not one, but several laborers will be joining us in Spain to work in the spiritual harvest that God is producing in Spain. Although obtaining a visa is just one small part in the process of sending laborers into God´s harvest, without it they would not be able to come....So glad that you and I could be a part! Thank you for your partnership in the sending!

Pray for Veronica´s visa paperwork, now turned in to the Spanish Embassy. Pray that they will grant her visa soon. Pray for her as she raises her financial support and for her preparation for the summer project. Pray that the Lord will use her and her team to bring new people into His kingdom this summer.

Meet the Monkey on Mondays!

Every week, heck, every day God is working in our lives....but how aware are we? How have you seen Him show up this week? One struggle in communicating regularly was related to the "slow" nature of ministry. Sometimes, it is hard to see what God is doing. One rationale that dominated  my thinking is that maybe it is that God is working much more slowly here, so rather share news each month, I may have to wait, 6, 9, 12 months to have a story to tell. However, as I make this shift to share a "blip" from each day, it has revolutionized the way I see God's work here, in my personal life and in ministry. A specific tool I am using to deliver my messages and stories to you across the ocean is MailChimp, an email marketing platform online; and, although I am sure that I am not getting nearly as much out of MailChimp as I could, but just the fact to be getting any news out at all is a big step for me. Immigrant moms advancing together

An American, a Brazilian, a Spaniard and 9 Moroccan women walk into a neighborhood center....it sounds like the beginning of a joke, right? God has a great sense of humor! Let me tell you how this story works out.... My church in Spain has an amazing outreach ministry in a city neighborhood highly populated by Moroccan immigrants. While immigration has increased globally, Catalunya has one of the highest percentages of immigration world-wide.  This drastic and relatively rapid change is historic and also traumatic for a Spanish system that is not prepared to receive so many immigrants. We personally have seen the burdening effects of immigration in our schools, at our hospitals and in our neighborhoods.  Many of those who come from Morocco are the poorest of the poor. They arrive looking for work and a better life. They come without having learned the language.
